Lin Yihan's research group focuses on quantitatively analyzing gene regulatory mechanisms in important processes such as human development, disease, and immunity at the single-cell level, and uses synthetic biological devices to precisely intervene in or control these processes.

The research is carried out from the following aspects: dynamically analyzing the state heterogeneity of tumor and immune cells at the single-cell level, the effects of epigenetic mechanisms on gene expression and cellular population heterogeneity, the functions and design principles of transcription factor dynamics in signal transduction and gene regulation, data-driven inference and construction of gene regulatory networks, and the design and application of novel synthetic biology devices.

The laboratory is dedicated to conducting cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in the life sciences, integrating research methods such as systems biology, synthetic biology, quantitative single-cell analysis, live-cell time-lapse fluorescence imaging, and mathematical modeling. At the same time, in order to lead the field of single-cell research, the laboratory is developing high-throughput, high spatiotemporal resolution single-cell analysis tools to decipher gene regulatory networks during disease processes and to provide new platforms for applications such as drug screening at the single-cell level and large-scale testing of synthetic biology devices.
